In a flareless type bite fitting,
ferrule is required to perform a typical function of a spring in the
pipe. This unique function of ferrule is due to the selection of right
materials, precise machinery technique and hardening of case, to give it
a hard exterior with a soft core.
Because of all the above factors, the ferrule bites into the pipe
readily and superficially without causing much surface cracks. At the
same time the ferrule also maintains its spring action for repeated use
without loss of strength and sealing qualities. Flareless bite-type
fittings find a large number of applications in copper and plastic
tubing systems.
