Adapter 
Female adapter is a special
industrial fitting extensively used to connect different types of tubes
and fractional port to male parallel pipe thread. Manufactured in range
of materials including brass, bronze, stainless steel, carbon steel, and
kinds of plastic. These tube fittings are used in a number of industries
such as dairy, beverage, shipbuilding, semiconductors etc to prevent any
kind of leakage.
Types of Female Adapter
- Straight Thread Adapter: These type of adapters are leakage proof
and not torque sensitive. On tightening, the threads flatten out
and allow the flanks to make full contact.
- Tapered Thread Adapter: These types of adapters are more prone to
leakage as compared to the straight thread adapters as they are
torque-sensitive. Over tightening of these adapters can lead to
distortion of threads, thereby creating a path for leakage.
